News: Apprenticeship Week 2019 — Jack’s getting fired up in the kitchen!
National Apprenticeship Week 2019 is 4 to 8 March. The theme is Blaze a Trail. Jack Pearce is blazing a trail in the world of fine dining. He's going from strength to strength, first as an apprentice at a renowned restaurant and now as a Chef de Partie.
Jack completed his professional cookery apprenticeship at the award-winning World Service restaurant with Nottingham College in 2017. Jack has since continued his career in the kitchen, first as a Commis Chef and now as a Chef de Partie at World Service. He’s aiming high and working his way up in the industry, and already has an award under his belt.
I really enjoyed my apprenticeship and I learnt so much. I found that I was always doing new things. I’ve always been really passionate about becoming a chef, so learning on the job, whilst doing my apprenticeship was ideal for me.
— Jack Pearce
In January 2019, Jack won the Best Young Talent (Back of House) award at the Nottingham Restaurant & Bar awards, held at Colwick Hall.
I was really happy when I won the award and it’s opened a lot of doors for me.
— Jack
We asked Jack for a few words about his assessor at Nottingham College, Mark. He said: “Thanks for all the training and support at College. I couldn’t have done it without you!”
