Course outline
The Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting offers technical training in accounting and is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue or progress their career in accountancy or finance.
Classes will be delivered every week and additional resources are made available to support independent and follow up study outside of classes - these can be online and/or physical book resources based on your course and level. Evening courses are available on some levels which allow for blended learning where 2 hours of your course is online study.
AAT is the UK’s leading professional body offering skills-based accountancy and finance qualifications. Their qualifications are practical, internationally recognised and can open doors in any industry across the world.
The Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting qualification will suit those who:
- have completed the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting and who would like to continue to build their accounting skills
- are already working in finance and would like a formal recognition of their skills
- would like to go on to become an AAT full member and/or study for chartered accountant status
- would like to start their own business through the AAT licensed members scheme
The Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting covers high-level accounting and finance topics and tasks. Students will look at and become comfortable with a wide range of financial management skills and applications, and will gain competencies in drafting financial statements for limited companies, recommending accounting systems strategies and constructing and presenting complex management accounting reports. Students will also learn about specialist areas such as tax, auditing, credit and debit management and cash and financial management. Key themes have also been introduced throughout the suite of accounting qualifications, including technology, ethics, sustainability and communication.

- Internal Accounting Systems and Controls
Plus two modules chosen from:
- Personal Tax
- Business Tax
- Credit and Debt Management
- Cash and Financial Management
- Audit and Assurance

Entry requirements | You must be aged 19+ and have completed the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting plus GCSE English Language and Maths at Grade 9-5 (A*-C) (or equivalent). In addition, we interview as part of the application process and you will need to demonstrate your ability and commitment to succeed on the course. |
Teaching & assessment | All units are assessed individually through computer-based end-of-unit assessments taken at the City Hub. |

Additional information | Students are responsible for registering with the AAT and paying student membership fees directly to them (currently £240). This fee covers the time studying level 4, up to a maximum of 3 years. |
