The Pharmacy Services Assistant (PSA) works under the supervision of a Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, or other accountable healthcare professional.
You will study Pharmacy Services Assistant skills, knowledge and behaviours and the BTEC Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff.

Entry requirements | You will need 4 GCSEs at grades 9 to 3/A* to D or equivalent including English Language and Maths. Some employers may require additional qualifications depending on the role You will also need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in a relevant job but we can assist you in finding a placement. Adults who are aged 19+ with appropriate industry experience but without the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply. All applicants will be required to undertake an assessment in English and maths prior to enrolling. |
Teaching & assessment | The BTEC Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff is assessed through assignments, observation, question, and answer sessions. The End Point Assessment consists of a knowledge test, simulated observation and question/answer session and professional discussion. |
Progression | You can progress to achieving the full Apprenticeship certification that confirms competency in the job role of a pharmacy services assistant. With further training and development, you can progress to a more senior or complex job role in pharmacy or the healthcare sector. You may also progress to the Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians, if you meet the entry requirements. |
