Family Learning Courses — Part-time
Course outline
If you are looking for something fun to do with your child, then these free family learning courses could just be the thing for you!
Held at various community centres around Nottingham, these sessions are for adults aged 19+ and their children.
All Aboard!
- This 8 week course is like a stay and play with transport!
- Each week is a fun 2-hour session where we will focus on a different transport with toys out, crafts, books and songs as well as singing, stories, crafts, play and bubbles!
- At the end of the course, we will go on a real life train!
- Location to be confirmed.
All the Early Years
- This 6 week course is perfect if you have a child under 4 and want to know how to help them get ‘school and nursery ready’.
- You will learn about all the areas of the Early Years curriculum from phonics, early writing, early maths, physical development and music and painting, plus much more.
- At the end of the course, you will feel more confident in how to support your child’s development on a budget.
- You can expect a fun 90-minute session with your child doing painting, writing, sand play, singing, musical instruments, games and crafts.
- Locations: Hyson Green Family Hub, Meadows Family Hub and Broxtowe Family Hub.
Reading Rucksacks
- This 6 week course is perfect if you want to learn more about how to support your young child in their early reading and want to know how to make reading fun making learning to read easier as they head into school.
- This is like a stay and play with books! Each week you will receive a book, and you will take part in some craft activities making puppets and masks to go with your story. You will also get to enjoy the story with them and spend quality time with your child enjoying stories and singing.
- You can expect a fun 2-hour session with your child singing, stories, crafts and bubbles!
- Locations: Hyson Green Family Hub, Meadows Family Hub and Broxtowe Family Hub.
Sow and Grow
- This 8 week course is perfect if you want to grow some lovely flowers with your child for your garden.
- You will learn how plants grow and each week you will plant a different seed with your child for you to take home and grow ready for the summer. We will also do lots of flower crafts.
- You can expect a fun 2-hour session with your child singing, stories, crafts, play and bubble and grow some flowers too!!!
