Information for parents
Welcome to Nottingham College’s dedicated pages for parents. Here, you'll find information that may help you understand a bit more about college life and help you to keep in touch with us throughout your child's time with us.
Depending on the course level, a student could be with us on a full time course anywhere from one year, to up to three years. During their time with us, we endeavour to support them with one to one tuition, a dedicated team of careers coaches and expert teachers who can develop their academic or technical understanding of their chosen course or area of study.
College is a place where young people develop their independence and with it comes an expectation of independent learning. This will inevitably mean private study and homework. Please do all you can to support them during their study and if you have any concerns, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Attendance
Attendance is key too. Unless there's a good reason, we expect 100% attendance in all scheduled classes and tutorials. If for whatever reason, students can't come into college, we need them to tell us in advance by going through our absence reporting system.
Learning Support
Finally, it's worth us mentioning that the College has an excellent Additional Learning Support team (ALS). This team supports students who, for whatever reason, are finding things difficult. They may have a learning or physical disability or may be going through an emotional time. Our ALS team are very proactive at promoting their services to students in College but if you think your son/daughter might need some extra help, please let us know.
