Welcome to the induction information for community students

What you can expect from us:

  • A friendly, safe classroom environment to learn in

  • Have weekly feedback from tutors on how you are getting on
  • Help to decide what to do next

What we would like from our students:

  • To arrive on time and attend every week
  • To come prepared to learn, with willingness to participate in sessions and work with others
  • To behave in a way that shows respect to others and their right to learn
  • To complete your student diary weekly
  • To use Microsoft Teams for course communication with tutors

How to download Microsoft Teams on your phone

Students should use Microsoft Teams whilst on the course. Microsoft Teams is a free, safe online app used by Nottingham College for tutors to contact students. Using Teams will also enable students to develop, and feel confident, using digital skills. 

To download the Microsoft Teams app onto your phone, follow the instructions below:

If you are using an Apple phone, go to the App Store, then search and download the Microsoft Teams app.

If you are using an Android phone, go to Google Play, then search and install the Microsoft Teams app.

How to use Teams

Once Teams has downloaded, you will need to sign in:

To sign in your username will be your college email address, for example: studentnumber@​student.​nottinghamcollege.​ac.​uk

The password will be your date of birth for example: 01 01 80

Your teacher will add you to your online class and your classes will show in the Feed section of Microsoft Teams:

Click on Activity’ at the bottom of the screen, when added by your teacher.

You can talk to your teacher and other students in your class about work by going to the chat button at the bottom of the screen and searching for their name, then creating a message:
