It's all about your career
Our aim is to make sure that you leave us with a valuable university-level or professional qualification, and are ready to move into your chosen area of employment or improve your job prospects.
- Industry links
- Our HE courses combine the right mix of academic study and vocational experience. We have worked in partnership with various organisations from Disney World® to Capital FM to Nottingham Playhouse, to ensure our programmes reflect the realities of the workplace and our facilities remain relevant and up to date. Many of our programmes have been designed with employer input and incorporate work placements and live briefs with local employers. Our tutors have a wealth of industry experience and contacts. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to get involved with national competitions such as WorldSkills and events relevant to your area such as New Designers, and Sound City. This vocational approach ensures you develop the skills and experience that are both relevant and sought after in the workplace.
- Enterprise
- We positively encourage and celebrate our students’ success in their enterprising ideas. You’ll receive plenty of support and advice to develop your ideas; many of our students move on to set up their own successful businesses from initiatives developed during their studies.
- Vocational focus
- In addition to strong vocational skills, we also recognise the importance of personal development and ‘soft’ skills, such as communication, team work and problem-solving. We’ve got plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in a wide range of activities including volunteering, internships, work placements and study exchange programmes. Our ACES (Academic Coaching and Employability Skills) team can also provide support for employability skills and personal development planning.
- Career Support
- We have a comprehensive Matrix accredited careers and student advisory service to help you make the right choices for your career development. We offer one-to-one career planning sessions, alongside group activities geared towards the development of employability skills.
